Meet Our Team
Welcome, Henrik Haaland – Our New CFO!
We're excited to introduce Henrik Haaland, who has joined Vantage as our Chief Financial Officer. Henrik is a former dinghy sailor, Ironman triathlete, and ocean sailor. With a background in industrial economics and technology management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Henrik will be contributing to managing our operations and helping product development.
Advisory Team Assemble!
Throughout the year, we've built an advisory team comprising talented and experienced professionals from the sailing and sports science sectors. Their expertise will guide Vantage's growth and development in the years to come. A heartfelt thank you to our advisors for their invaluable support!
- Knut Frostad: Executive Chairman at Henri Lloyd, former CEO of Navico and the Volvo Ocean Race
- Olav Aleksander Bu: One of the world's leading figures in sports science, coaching the Norwegian triathletes towards Olympic Gold, World Championships and breaking the Ironman World Record.
- Russell Coutts: CEO of SailGP, Olympic Champion, and 5x America's Cup Winner.
- Eirik Verås Larsen: Head of the Norwegian Sailing Team. 2x Olympic Champion in Kayak. Eirik will support in making Vantage a tool for Olympic teams.
- Rune Jacobsen: Former Olympic sailor and management consultant at BCG with 25 years of experience.
Where Are We Now?
Earlier this year, some of you participated in testing the Vantage Beta web application. This initial proof of concept helped us understand how sailors, coaches, and teams could best use Vantage to enhance training and performance on the water. Based on your feedback and suggestions, we transitioned Vantage into a mobile application—a move that has resulted in a highly performant and capable app.
While there's still much to refine, we're proud of our progress and excited about the future possibilities. The road ahead will be focused on strengthening the analysis and data processing capabilities, as well as improving the usability of the application.
What's New in Vantage 1.1.1?
- New Distribution Plots: Available under speed analysis, these plots allow you to dig deeper into your straight-line performance, similar to those used in the America's Cup recently. Easily compare port and starboard tacks and compare to your connections.
- Enhanced Wind Shift Detection: Improved accuracy for all Olympic classes, with ongoing enhancements planned.
What's Next?
- Regular Updates: Expect weekly updates focusing on usability enhancements, more tutorials, and detailed information on using Vantage effectively.
- Wind Detection & Analysis: Continuous improvements in accuracy and reliability.
- Exciting New Feature: We're developing a very promising new feature currently undergoing early testing. Stay tuned for more details!
Early Access Opportunities
In the coming months, we will be opening up the app to more sailors to gather feedback and further refine features. If you know friends or peers who might be interested in trying out Vantage, please let us know!
